Greater Accra region is likely to go into John Mahama’s column in the December 2020 elections as majority of voters in the critical swing region back him for president, according to a new poll by Global InfoAnalytics. John Mahama of the National Democratic Congress attracts 44% of the votes compared to the incumbent, President Nana Akuffo Addo of the New Patriotic Party who earns the support of 36.4% of the votes. In the case of a roundoff, John Mahama is expected to win 55.3% of the votes compared to 44.7% for President Nana Akuffo Addo.
Only 33.2% of voters in the region think the country is heading in the right direction compared to 66.8% who think it is heading in the wrong direction. The poll was conducted before the announcement of Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyeman as John Mahama’s running-mate and before the launching of the parties’ manifestoes. Field work was carried out between 27th June – 5th July 2020. The poll had a total sample size of 1,143 and a margin of error of ± 2.576 % at 99.0% confidence interval.
