The battle for the 2020 elections would be fought in the Greater Accra, Western, Western North and the Central regions as new poll conducted by Global InfoAnalytics shows close contest between President Nana Addo and John Mahama in their quest to be elected to lead the country. Voters from the four swing regions back John Mahama with 41.3% of the votes and Nana Addo 39.2%. However, in an event of a roundoff, John Mahama would be expected to carry the swing regions as the poll shows, attracting 52% of the votes compared to 48% for President Nana Addo.
Majority of voters, 55.4% believe the country is heading in the wrong direction according to the poll compared to 44.6% that believe it is heading in the right direction. The poll which was carried between 27th June – 5th July 2020, interviewed a total of 2,088 respondents and has a margin of error of ±2.818% at 99% confidence interval.
The poll was carried out before the announcement of Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyeman as the running mate of the NDC and before the launching of the parties’ manifestoes, hence the effects of the above events have not been reflected in the poll.
